Levels
Level Descriptions
Beginner
This level is perfect for anyone who's never done any swing dancing or Lindy Hop before, for those that have been dancing less than 6 months* or for those who have been dancing infrequently for awhile and want a refresher course. No audition is required for this level.
Intermediate
You've been dancing 6 months to a year*, and you have a solid foundation on basic footwork, timing, as well as being familiar with the swing out, sugar pushes, side passes, and basic turns and spins. You've been introduced to body leading/following, and you have little or no problems finding and keeping the beat and dancing basic patterns on the social dance floor. Dancing to faster music can be troublesome, as can be patterns with different rhythms or that are more complex. No audition is required for this level.
Advanced
You've been dancing more than a year*, have grown from your basic foundation and patterns and are learning to lead/follow more unique and individual movements on the floor. You can dance with most partners without any major connection or "style" issues, but you're still learning to make musicality something that fits into your dancing. Faster tempos are easier than they were, but could definitely still use some growth. An audition is required to enter this level.
Master
You're worshipped wherever you go. Most people bow down to you when you pass by, and you most likely make a 6-figure income. You always have your choice of a mate, and your martial skill is unparalleled. You most likely have some sort of sixth sense, and lesser beings are repelled by your pure essence. As a Lindy Hopper, you're likely at the top of your scene as far as technique goes. You're looking for ways to improve your quality of movement, rather than quantity. Faster songs aren't really an issue anymore, nor are very slow tempos, and body leading/following is part of how you dance now. You are now eager to learn how to grow into your own style of dancing and "say" things your own way. An audition is required to enter this level.
*= relative measure. Everyone grows at their own pace, and time should be a guide, not a rule.
